It’s nearly time… Monster Truck are making the final preperations in the Good Ship’s garage before entering the sonic areana tonight, tearing through the musical gears and jumping full throttle from great band to great band.
Secret Symphony (aka Jam from Kerrang radio’s new faves Nixa) gets things started at 20:00 with some heart felt acoustic majestry, then Wiltshire’s Silhoeutte Showgirls’ soulful, every-great-band-ever -rock steps things up a notch. At 21:30 Carousel Cartel’s (formerly Halagoogoo) dirty funky blues roars onto the stage, they’ll probably get a little naked, and then your headliner; the fantastic lo-fi weirdo-rock/pyschedlic grunge of Artefacts for Space Travel teleports us through punk hyperspace!
Stage Times:
Artefacts for Space Travel 22:30
Carousel Cartel 21:30
Silhouette Showgirls 20:45
Secret Symphony 20:00

This really is a pleasure. The recently renamed Halagoogoo step in to fill the breach. With a storming return to form this weekend at The Half Moon under new name Carousel Cartel we cannot thank the dirty funky blues crowd pleasers enough. With notable support slots with Scouting For Girls & Friendly Fires to name but a few we’re all in for a treat. Great to have you on board guys.

The Unfortunate Cancellation of Gallops
Published January 16, 2010 Uncategorized Leave a CommentTags: Gallops, Monster Truck, The Good Ship
Unfortunately the fantastic Gallops have had to withdraw from the inaugural Monster Truck on Thursday 21st for personal reasons. Our thoughts are with them. Hopefully we can get them back on board the Truck for a show sometime in the near future.
So this leaves a hole on our roster, not to worry though as we have a few acts in mind who, if available, will be suitably brilliant replacements!
Monster Truck defiantly rolls on towards The Good Ship for some endearing acoustica, harmonious power indie, lo-fi weirdo rock & hopefully some other completely amazing band – we look forward to seeing you there! Thursday 21st at The Good Ship, Kilburn.
Silhouette Showgirls and Secret Symphony- Opening Monster Truck

Silhouette Showgirls
Fusing original soulful melodies with powerful thought provoking harmonies, there indie rock arrogance could fill a stadium and results in an incredible live sound. The showgirls have made the southwest there’s and with recent headline shows in the big smoke at The Dublin castle and The Bull & Gate the year ahead will see this band become a NME lovers regular fix. Sounding like the love child of a drunken threesome between Pearl Jam, Gomez and Radiohead these guys really can’t be missed. www.myspace.com/silhouetteshowgirls
Secret Symphony
Jam of rock monster Nixa shows his softer side with some stripped down acoustic magic. A showcase of songs written on the road and with time off between tours this really is the secret of the night.
As Secret Symphony is a bit of a mystery to everyone, heres a little taste of Jam’s alter ego, as guitarist for the mighty Nixa:
Gallops

Wrexham noise makers Gallops’ brooding & complex rocktronica exists somewhere amongst the atmospheric Sci-fi of Pivot, the brilliantly pretentious Battles and And So I Watch You From Afar’s explosive live set. They’re math post punk graced the stage at Radio1s big weekend in Swindon last year & bleep odyssey ‘Lasers’ can be found on nice-guy DJ Huw Stephens’ ‘Music Sounds Better With Huw (Volume 2)’ compilation. With a debut EP on the way these instrumental androids will tear full throttle through your headspace and could end up stealing the show.

Artefacts for Space Travel – Monster Truck Headliners
Published January 7, 2010 Uncategorized 1 CommentTags: Artefacts for Space Travel, Chris O'Dowd, Dinosaur Pile-Up, FM, Kevin bishop, Lets Wrestle, Monster Truck, Pete and the Pirates, Power of the Brain, Screaming Tea Party, Stolen Recordings
Psychedelic cosmic grunge London three-piece Artefacts for Space Travel headline the inaugural Monster Truck with their no wave punk and noisey indie. Like a weirder, scuzzier Dinosaur Pile-Up, they’re awesomely unpredictable ‘Power of the Brain’ EP goes from Cul De Sacs to Department Stores while I’m pretty sure the standout title track featured somewhere on the sometimes funny ITV comedy FM, featuring Chris O’Dowd & Kevin Bishop. Stolen Recordings label mates of on-the-cusp heroes Pete and the Pirates as well as Screaming Tea Party & Let’s Wrestle, 2010 could be an exciting year for Artefacts for Space Travel.
